In Kari Edvardsson's work she shows the intaglio technique or the
more spesifique DRY POINT which is an old technique from Italy in the
15th.century.In drypoint the lines are scratched into a metal plate
with a sharply pointed steel instrument which is used like a pencil.
The steelneedle ploughs up the metal in a small furrow leaving raised
burrs on either side of the line. The drypointprint is distinquished
by its soft, furry lines.
Earlier Kari Edvardsson worked mostly in black and white, but in
recent years she is adding colours to the metal plate. The result is
a combination of drypoint and monotypi printed on wet, white or toned
paper. Her works represent abstract and concrete expression.
